5.1 Analogue modem package (Solar-Log
1000
)
The analogue modem comes in two versions:
Home analogue modem
Industrial analogue modem
An analogue telephone connection is required to operate the modem. This is
commonly available, along with ISDN technology, in the telephone system or
through a router.
For the data connection to the internet, Solar-Log
1000
establishes an internet-
by-call connection. Some telephone systems have blocks that prevent this
kind of dial-up access.
If the Solar-Log
1000
dial-up function is to be used, the corresponding telephone
number must be assigned to the telephone socket used.
Before connecting the analogue modem package, the connection should be
tested by making incoming and outgoing telephone calls from an analogue
telephone.

Connection
1 Connect the modem to the RS232 connection on the Solar-Log
1000
using
the serial RS232 cable
2 Connect the modem to the TAE telephone socket using the telephone cable.
3 Plug the power supply unit into the modem and switch on the modem.
All other settings are configured through the Solar-Log
1000
display. A PC is not
necessary.
